I am a teacher by profession. I took a Bachelor of Elementary Education major in General Education.
After graduating from college, I applied as an ESL teacher and have been teaching for more than five years.
I have always enjoyed teaching. It gives me satisfaction and meaning to my existence in this world.
All throughout my journey as an English teacher. I was fortunate enough to be chosen as one of the teachers to be trained in IELTS. Going through the training for how many weeks helped me to learn new ideas and widen my knowledge about English grammar. IELTS stands for International English Langauge Testing System and this test is intended for people who want to work or study abroad.
During this time, I have been taking IELTS mock test quarterly which was really good because I was able to apply what I have learned and understand how it feels like to be in the shoes of my students who are studying IELTS.
Life here in the Philippines is an adventure for me. The good thing in our country is that we use the English language every time and anywhere. So, I have a lot of opportunities to practice and talk with foreign people especially with native speakers who visit here.
Filipinos can speak English because we learn it at a very young age. The moment we set foot on the school ground is the beginning of a fun and memorable experience filled with learnings about the English subject. In school, we are taught to improve our reading, speaking, listening, and writing skills. In order for us to be confident in using the language and competent enough as an employee not just here but internationally.
Having the chance to teach in various settings such as public school, office-based, home-based, and Sunday school brought me new insights and experiences.
Exchanging conversation in English becomes a part of my daily life. And so, being an English teacher allows me to converse with students who are across the globe.
If “food is the way to a man’s heart”, then I would say English is the key to communicate internationally.
